The Christian Folk School Terms of Agreement

Parental Agreements:

Parent or Guardian Attendance:
Our classes and events are not a drop-off program. By signing up for any of our classes or special events, you agree that your child will be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times and that the adult is responsible for the safety of their student, not The Christian Folk School. This ensures your child is under your constant supervision for their protection and is never left alone with any instructors, parents, or other children. While we do our part to ensure the highest quality of teachers, instructors, and environment, the absolute best way to ensure a child’s safety is with their own parent.

Parent or Guardian Moral Clause:
By attending our classes, dropping off your student, or participating in our community, you attest you are not now, and have never been, accused of, nor participated in, any type of abuse, illegal or immoral behavior toward children.

Child(ren) Behavior:
We ask that all parents and guardians please be respectful of other students by monitoring and being responsible for their child(rens) behavior in class. Children are incredible, fun, and imaginative and we absolutely do not want to stifle their amazing energy! But we also ask that if a child is being disruptive or having an issue in class, the parent or guardian please step in and care for their child’s needs, removing them if necessary, and returning to the class when the child is ready to participate.

Age Recommendations:

All classes list a recommended age based on an average. As the parent, you know your child best and what they are capable of. Parents or guardians are required to attend classes with their students and are encouraged to help, support, and aid when needed. If you have any questions about what a class entails and if it is appropriate for your child’s age and skill level, please email us at: connect@christianfolkschool.com and we would be happy to help you gauge the class you are interested in. By attending our classes you agree that the parent or guardian will assist their student and is responsible for their safety and ability to perform the tasks in the class.

Allergies and Medical:
Some of our classes include baking, foraging, herbal care, chemicals such as lye for soap-making, or boiling water, such as in our canning classes. The Christian Folk School denies and waives all liability for allergies or medical issues arising from medical conditions, and cannot ensure allergen-free ingredients in any of our classes. By attending our classes or events, the parent or guardian acknowledges full liability for all allergies and medical issues of their student(s).

Behavior Agreement:
We do not tolerate any inappropriate conversations or behavior from students or parents. If any member acts in a manner that we deem to be inappropriate, violent, racist, sexual, or bullying will be asked to leave our school and will be removed from communications. If you have any issues or concerns with any of the behaviors listed and need to speak with us about a safety concern, please email us at: connect@christianfolkschool.com

Classes:

 Class Fees:
All class fees are based on the instructor’s cost, as well as the cost of supplies and rental space. We do our best to offer affordable class rates for our homeschool families and are committed to always providing the lowest cost possible, while offering the highest quality materials and education.

Class Registration:
When signing up students and families, you only need to register the student participating in the class and using the materials in the class. Parents or siblings only need to pay for themselves in special events where they would use the supplies or that require admittance tickets to a separate venue. Our goal is to teach whole families, and we encourage parents to watch, assist, and participate with their students when possible so that they too can learn these valuable and lost skills.

Class Refunds:
Payments and refunds for classes are issued on a case-by-case basis depending on the instructor and nature of the class. Some instructors order supplies far in advanced and refunds cannot be given for supplies already ordered. In the event that a class is canceled, we will reschedule the class, usually within a month, permitting access to our venue. If a student or parent has to cancel due to sickness or emergency, and the supplies for that class have not been ordered, we can cancel no sooner than 48 hours.

Photography:
To protect the rights of our students, we strictly prohibit any photography of students who are not your own. The Christian Folk School may take photos of groups but will not post images of children’s faces on the internet or in promotional material. Parents may take pictures of their own children, but may not, under any circumstances, include other children in their photos or videos. Our events take place on private property; therefore, we have the explicit right to prohibit the photography or filming of minors. By attending our classes and events, you also agree that you will not use our events, classes, or photography taken in our community in your own advertising for your own business, homeschooling business, co-op, folk school, etc

No Compete Clause:
By attending our classes, you agree you are not sourcing or will not hire our instructors for your own homeschool enrichment program, co-op, folk school, or other homeschooling resource. If this does transpire, we will ask you to please leave our community and will remove anyone who is acting in this fashion from all communications. We work tirelessly to ensure our community receives the highest quality of instruction and education, and having members poach our instructors and teachers deeply hurts our employees and community. However, we do hire incredible instructors and teachers who are themselves, professionals and business owners, who we highly encourage you to work with and hire in other endeavors!
